In May of 2023, we visited a diocese of Anglican Church of Kenya in the northeast part of Kenya. Creative Reflections had provided funds for drilling a borehole a number of years ago, and we had the opportunity to see the well “in action!” As you can see in the accompanying pictures, the well pump is powered by a solar panel. The water is located on diocesan property where there is a large school serving approximately 450 children both Christians and Muslims.

One thing that impressed us was the great gratitude the bishop and the members of the diocese expressed to us for coming to visit. We wonder, sometime, when we are spending the time and money to visit a location so far away just to see a well. However, it became clear to us that it is worth it to make the trip because of how much it means to those who received us. Relationship is such a very important part of their culture!

Here, again, we were welcomed as honorary members of a tribe – this time the Samburu tribe and were given new names; Jamal (Jerry) and Nashiepie (Céline). It was such a great honor to be so graciously received!
